Conference 2009

United Registrar of Systems and English Biscuits Manufacturers, along with the support of various development and regulatory authorities, continue to strive to promote the necessity of safe food practices for manufacturers and consumers alike. As the years of this collaboration slowly progresses to a decade, it must be remembered that the contribution done by this joint effort thus far, is just a beginning. Safefood Pakistan has always served to address key contemporary issues related to the food industry and this year was no different. The idea guiding this year’s conference was “Safefood - Significance in Recessionary times” and it drew attention on the importance and advantages of investing in food safety, even in a turbulent economic climate. National and International speakers presented information on the importance of maintaining focus on food safety and obtaining returns on investment in food safety in a difficult economic climate. This year, Safefood Pakistan got a massive response from the industry, media and the general public. Once again, with a tally of over 500 participants, the conference has yet again proved to be the most popular food safety event in Pakistan. The 8th International Safefood Pakistan Conference was held on the 26th of March, 2009 at Sheraton Hotel, Karachi.
