The Safe Food Conference 2011 is scheduled for January 18, 2011, at the Regent Plaza Hotel, in Karachi. This year the focus is on "Enhancing food safety in the retail sector".

Aim
The conference aims to encourage a collaborative effort between all stakeholders, through which the retail sector can work towards decreasing food safety scares and risks, provide better quality products for consumers and enhance transparency between all the links in the food supply chain.

Objectives

Objective 1
Identify and communicate best practices in retail food safety.

Objective 2
Assist stakeholders set priorities and allocate resources in retail food safety.

Objective 3
Encourage Pakistan’s regulators to adopt a more holistic risk based programme for enforcing food safety in the retail sector

Objective 4
Build the capacity and resource base of retail associations and their members with respect to food safety

Objective 5
Encourage consumer associations to develop a scientific approach towards highlighting food safety malpractices
